During the course of his long and wildly successful career, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has built a reputation as an all-around stand-up dude.
And he definitely lived up to that persona during a recent Foo gig, where he gave one fan a rare memento and the memory of a lifetime.
The band kicked off the Australian leg of their Sonic Highways world tour in Brisbane, Australia on Tuesday (Feb. 24) before heaving to Sydney the following night. There, Grohl stopped their set when he noticed a fan in the front row holding a banner.
The 46-year-old said into the microphone, “There’s a guy in the front row. He’s got a sign that says ‘drum stick for a blind guy.’” The audience roared in response as Grohl grabbed a stick from drummer Taylor Hawkins and handed it to the lucky fan.
Needless to say, Grohl definitely became that fan’s “Hero” and most definitely made his night. Or probably his entire life. In addition, after the show, Grohl probably volunteered at a local Australian zoo, feeding malnourished kangaroos and koalas and nursing them back to health. Because that’s just the type of dude he is.
