A British woman has gone on trial accused of trafficking £3,100 of drugs into Indonesia‘s second-largest city.
Andrea Waldeck was arrested in April and could face the death penalty if convicted at Surabaya district court.
Authorities claim they found 1,472 grams (52 ounces) of methamphetamine crystals in her underwear at her hotel room in Surabaya.
Waldeck, 43, is expected to give a statement at the next court hearing next week.
Last month Indonesia’s Supreme Court upheld a death sentence for another British woman, Lindsay Sandiford.
She was found guilty of smuggling £1.6m ($2.5m) of cocaine into the resort island of Bali.
Indonesia has strict drug laws – a third of the more than 140 people on death row for drug crimes are foreigners.
