England all out for 206 vs India in 4th ODI

BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) — India bowled England out for only 206 in the fourth one day international at Edgebaston on Tuesday, setting the tourists a comfortable target of 207 to secure series victory.

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl, and England, knowing only victory will allow it to rescue the five-match contest it currently trails 2-0, began woefully.

Alex Hales fell on 6, tricked by an inswinging delivery from Bhuvnehswar Kumar after the strike bowler had kept swinging the ball away from his stumps.

Dhoni’s opposite number Alastair Cook went for 9 in the same over, edging to Suresh Raina at gully.

When Gary Ballance, a late replacement for Ian Bell who injured his toe in the warm-up, went for 7 only 12 balls later to Mohammed Shami, England were on 23-3, having lost its top three batsman inside eight overs.

While a partnership of 80 between Joe Root and Eoin Morgan took the hosts past 100, Morgan was dismissed for Ravindra Jadeja’s first wicket, before Root top edged Raina to India debutant Dhawal Kulkarni for 44 as England stumbled again on 114-5.

Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali looked to forge a partnership that would stifle India’s charge, but the normally aggressive Buttler failed to get going and was trapped lbw by Shami on 11 from 37 deliveries.

Ali did offer some resistance with an impressive 67 off 50 balls, including three sixes, but Ravichandran Ashwin bowled him out and left England’s tail-end exposed.

Raina ran-out Chris Woakes on 10 with a direct hit, Jadeja struck for the second time by clean bowling Steven Finn for 3 before Shami wrapped up the innings when he bowled out Harry Gurney on 3.
