Dance music is more popular than ever, so for the second year in a row, (RED), the organization co-founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to combat AIDS in Africa, has partnered with the Stereosonic Festival in Sydney, Australia, to bring awareness to the struggle in time for World AIDS Day, which is December 1st. You can livestream the event, which will include EDM superstars David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Sebastian Ingrosso, Empire of the Sun and Armin van Buuren. The stream will run through Saturday and Sunday.
The 25 DJs That Rule the Earth
The festival stream follows the release of the remix compilation, Dance (RED) Save Lives, Vol. 2, which is avaible through iTunes. Like the Stereosonic Festival, the compilation uses dance music as a vehicle for raising AIDS awareness, with contributions from acts including Tiësto, Icona Pop and Major Lazer. The compilation also features big-name producers’ remixes of songs by rock and pop acts, such as Avicii’s new take on Madonna‘s “Girl Gone Wild,” DallasK’s remix of Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Swedish House Mafia’s version of Coldplay‘s ”Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.”
“Dance music is infectious and we’re using it to beat a virus that has killed more than 35 million people,” Josh Neuman, the producer of the compilation and CEO of Recreation Worldwide, told Rolling Stone. All proceeds from Dance (RED) Save Lives, Vol. 2 will go to the World AIDS Fund.
