London police arrest man over Pakistan politician 2010 murder

LONDON (Reuters) – London police said on Wednesday they had arrested a man in connection with the murder of senior Pakistani politician Imran Farooq who was stabbed to death in the British capital in 2010.

Farooq, 50, a founding member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), was on his way home from work in north London when he was attacked. His death brought Pakistan’s biggest city Karachi to a standstill.

Police said they had arrested a 30-year-old man in east London on suspicion of being involved in the murder.

They said they were looking to speak to two other men believed to be in Pakistan while a 52-year-old man, arrested in 2013 on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, is still on police bail.
