Police are investigating whether a bang heard in Belfast city centre was an explosion.
A suspicious object found in the Chichester Street/Victoria Street area is being examined by officers and Army bomb disposal experts.
Police received reports of suspicious activity in the area around 12.20am. The bang was also reported at this time. No damage was caused.
Traffic diversions were put in place as a precautionary measure.
