WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Government-controlled mortgage firm Freddie Mac posted a $30.5 billion (19 billion pounds) third-quarter profit on Thursday, helped by a tax windfall.
The firm said it would make a $30.4 billion dividend payment to the U.S. Treasury next month.
The earnings compare with net income of $2.9 billion a year earlier.
