Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten has said that she is happy the door is being left open for her to return to the soap.
Gemma, who plays Rachel Breckle, is leaving the Dales in the New Year with a secret storyline.
But the actress told The Sun: “I’m so grateful to have such a big exit and with the door left wide open.
“There’s still so much to come for Rachel, so I’m focusing on giving the show my all. That’s my priority. Leaving Emmerdale seems such a way off.”
She told the newspaper she would always think affectionately about her time playing troubled mum Rachel on the ITV soap.
“I can’t wait to get out there and explore new roles, but I wouldn’t be in this position without Emmerdale – and for that reason it will always have a special place in my heart.
“Being part of this show has been huge for me.”
