Gunfire in CAR capital Bangui, protesters in streets

Automatic weapons fire was heard Friday in the Central African Republic capital of Bangui and near the city’s airport as hundreds of protesters marched in the streets, an AFP correspondent said.

A military source told AFP that young people were protesting against the government and foreign military forces deployed in the country and that shots were fired in a bid to disperse the crowds.
