Guns N’ Roses are celebrating their current residency in Sin City with a concert film highlighting their 2012 stay at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas. Filmed on November 21, 2012, Appetite for Democracy 3D will first debut in select movie theaters nationwide on June 18th and 19th before downsizing to TV screens with a July 1st DVD/Blu-ray release, Consequence of Sound reports. Both the theatrical release (click here for listings) and the Blu-ray will be 3D, so you can watch Axl Rose, “the world’s greatest singer,” get the Avatar treatment as he belts out “Rocket Queen.”

Where did Axl Rose rank on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Singers?

This is Guns N’ Roses we’re talking about here, so don’t circle July 1st on your calendar just yet. In addition to being infamously tardy for concerts, Chinese Democracy endured years of announcements and postponements before it finally arrived in November 2008. A few months after Chinese Democracy dropped, GNR promised a live video for the track “Better” was on the way; almost six years later, that music video has still not premiered. (It’s rumored that the video featured a cameo by Metallica’s Lars Ulrich and his appearance was a rights issue that became the death knell for the “Better” clip.) In fact, the trailer for the Appetite for Democracy film was posted way back in April 2013 and it’s only heading to multiplexes in June 2014, so July 1st seems like a definite maybe.

If the DVD does arrive on time, it will feature an epic, career-spanning 26-song setlist containing all of GNR’s hits from Appetite to Democracy, plus a handful of covers like the Who’s “The Seeker” and Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall Part 2″ thrown in. The setlist also includes a rendition of Neil Young’s “Don’t Let It Bring You Down,” which GNR performed with Neil Young himself when they played the annual Bridge School Benefit in 2012. Even with all the covers, however, nothing from The Spaghetti Incident? made the cut.
