Ever since Drake appeared on ILOVEMAKONNEN’s weeknight turn-up jam “Tuesday” the song has picked up some serious steam. A refresher in case you somehow haven’t heard:
Now, it’s not like the the original wasn’t already excellent, but Drizzy’s remix of the song caused it to appear on playlists overnight, made it the unofficial jam of the Fall, and got the world interested in Makonnen as a solo artist. The fact that Drake also signed him to his own OVO Sound label didn’t hurt either.
But we have new evidence concerning why Drake’s take on the track is so luscious and sugary sweet: a pina colada connection. That’s right, some clever fan noticed that if you play the “Tuesday” remix right into Rupert Holmes’ classic ’70s jam “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” that there’s a serious correlation.
Listen to the two songs played side by side:
Is this all part of some larger coconut cocktail conspiracy? It’s probably just a funny coincidence, but it really makes you think… I mean, Drake is clearly interested in pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and we have loads of proof that he is seriously into champagne. His Instagram username alone—Champagne Papi—reveals that.

Into it. Why not add Rupert Holmes to the squad and get another remix going??
