Police investigating the murder of a man whose body was found in Bath city centre on Christmas Eve have arrested a third man.
Thomas Downey, who was known locally as “Manchester Tommy”, was found under a railway arch on Lower Bristol Road, near Bath railway station, just after 1.30pm on Wednesday.
A post mortem examination concluded that he died from “significant” head injuries.
Avon and Somerset Police said a 46-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Of the two men previously arrested, a 33-year-old remains in custody while a 37-year-old has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
On Sunday, a police spokesman said officers were keen to speak to anyone who had been in the area during what would have been a busy shopping period.
He said: “We are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area near to the station in Lower Bristol Road around lunchtime on Christmas Eve.
“We believe the area would have been busy with shoppers and people leaving work early.”
