Afghan candidate says no to partial results

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — An Afghan presidential candidate who has alleged massive fraud in last month’s runoff vote says he won’t accept partial results if they’re released as planned on Monday.

Abdullah Abdullah’s comments come as his campaign team is engaged in negotiations with representatives of his rival Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai in a bid to resolve the crisis. Abdullah has ruled out a political deal but says talks are underway on technical aspects of the auditing process.

Preliminary results from the June 14 balloting had been due on Wednesday, but the Independent Election Commission delayed them until Monday saying it needed to audit votes from nearly 2,000 polling stations.

Ahmadzai has insisted there should be no further delays. But Abdullah said Sunday that he won’t accept any results until all fraud allegations are resolved.
