Drake Dethrones Usher With A New Billboard Record

“Most #1s ever, how long did it really take me?” Drake rapped on “5AM in Toronto,” boasting about his title with more hits atop the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart than anyone else. And now here we are, over a year after that song dropped, and Drizzy has set yet another Billboard record.

This week, “Believe Me,” the Drake-assisted Lil Wayne single from Tha Carter V, topped the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. That achievement gave October’s Very Own his 14th #1 for that specific chart, which puts him solely in first place for “most #1s ever” there. The hit allowed him to eclipse Usher, who has had 13 during the more than two decades since the chart first launched.

Weezy, meanwhile, is third in that race — only behind those two powerhouses — as “Believe Me” is his tenth #1.

There will probably be more reasons for celebration for these two in the coming months, as Drake scored a VMA nomination (don’t forget to tune in on August 24!) and Tunechi is getting ready to release his highly-anticipated Tha Carter V.

Plus, their joint tour is set to kick off next month.
