Microsoft Bringing Lumia Cyan, Windows Phone 8.1 Updates to Australia and New Zealand

Windows Phone 8 users in Australia and New Zealand will finally be able to check out Microsoft‘s Windows Phone 8.1 and the Lumia Cyan update starting 27 July.

According to a Techradar report, Windows Phone 8 users should witness their smartphones upgraded to Windows Phone 8.1, along with being able to test out enhancements that the Lumia Cyan update brings along.

Windows Phone 8.1 OS upgrade will be for all smartphones running Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating platform.

Lumia Cyan, on the other hand, is only applicable to owners of Microsoft’s Lumia smartphone range. This update brings camera and camera roll enhancements.

Another important feature that Lumia Cyan update incorporates is exclusively available to users of the Lumia 1520 smartphone. They will get to record audio in the Dolby Digital sound format.

With the Lumia Cyan update, owners of Lumia smartphones can save games and applications directly to a microSD card.

Windows Phone 8.1 update features Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 11 web browser, a customisable lockscreen, pull down notification bar and an extra ‘live tiles’ column (optional) on the homescreen.

However, it is doubted whether Microsoft’s personal digital assistant Cortana will hit Australia and New Zealand, with Microsoft’s latest updates.

Microsoft has launched globally the beta version of the most anticipated Live Lock Screen app which is available for download from the company’s Windows Phone Store.
