11 Awesome Onscreen Parties You Wish You’d Been Invited To

From the champagne extravaganza of “The Great Gatsby,” to that down-in-the-Valley vintage house party from “Clueless,” to the best Westerosian wedding ever to involve a killer bird pie, movies and TV are full of fests, bashes and balls that put your average party to shame. Below, we round up the onscreen get-togethers for which we would’ve most loved to be on the guest list.

  1. thisistheend

This get-together of celebrity friends looked like a great little party, at least before the portal to hell opened up and unleashed the end of the world as we know it.

  2. catchingfire

Despite the tragic circumstances and imminent death awaiting various attendees, this crowd clearly knows how to have a good time.

  3. rollinwiththehomies

    Who wants to play suck-and-blow?

  4. gatsby

Ain’t no party like a Gatsby party, ’cause a Gatsby party don’t stop… until two people are dead, multiple hearts are broken, and everyone else is just kind of over the whole “Jazz Age decadence” thing.

  5. animalhouse

    COLLEGE.

  6. got

Even before the delightful event that gave the Purple Wedding its name, this high-class marital celebration was extravagant even by King’s Landing standards.

  7. canthardlywait-portable

Still the best graduation bash ever to grace the screen.

  8. lotr

Dancing hobbits, drunken dwarves, and dozens of sexy long-haired horsemen looking for a place to put their… swords. Yep, we’d like to be on that guest list.

  9. superbad

    Great party. Period. (Get it?)

  10. bridesmaids

Elegant hors d’oeuvres, puppy party favors, and a friend-versus-friend blowout over anal bleaching: If only all bridal showers could be this fantastic.

  11. yule ball

Adult muggles who just wanna go to wizard prom, put your hands up.

It’s too late to get on the list for these events, but MTV is throwing its own epic party: Tune in for the network debut of “Project X” at 10pm ET on Friday, February 6.
