A former senior detective has been charged with stalking, common assault, rape, and harassment, the police watchdog has said.
Colin Andrews, 57, is a retired chief superintendent with Humberside Police who headed a number of high-profile investigations.
Andrews, of Hessle, has been working as a business manager for the force’s criminal justice unit since his retirement.
He will appear in court next month.
A spokesman for the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said Andrews was first arrested in Hull in August 2013 and then detained a second time in October.
He said: “A member of Humberside Police staff has been charged with a number of offences following an investigation managed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
“On Thursday 30 January the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) charged Colin Andrews, 57, who is a former chief superintendent, with the force, with stalking, common assault, rape, and harassment.
“The investigation was carried out by Durham Police and the terms of reference set by the IPCC.”
Andrews, from Hessle, near Hull, will appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on February 14.
