‘Veronica Mars’ Hits A Neptune High, Wins Top Honors At The mtvU Fandom Awards

The fictional town of Neptune, California, has plenty of cause for celebration tonight — because their hometown hero just won the top prize at the mtvU Fandom Awards.

“Veronica Mars” won the biggest honor at the mtvU Fandom Awards at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday night (July 24): The “Fandom of the Year” award. The Kristen Bell-starring franchise came out on top after weeks of voting in an epic 32-nominee bracket, winning out over the likes of “Community,” “Supernatural” and “Free! Iwatobi Swim Club.”

Of course, it’s not the first time “Veronica Mars” has won a bracket competition around these parts; the “Veronica Mars” feature film was the big winner at the MTV Movie Brawl 2014 as well.

Beyond “Veronica Mars,” other big winners at the mtvU Fandom Awards include “Hannibal,” for “Breakout Fandom of the Year,” “Harry Potter” for the Tumblr-exclusive “Best Fandom Forever” category, and the Purple Wedding from “Game of Thrones” as the OMG Moment of the Year.
