Yaya DaCosta’s Transformation Into Whitney Houston Is Spot-On: See The Pic

Taking on the role of an iconic singer in a movie (okay, Lifetime movie) is hard enough. But trying to match that celeb’s look and mannerisms is the real challenge.

We’ll have to wait until early next year to see how former “America’s Next Top Model” star Yaya DaCosta pulls off the starring role in the tentatively titled Lifetime “Whitney Houston” biopic. But on Thursday (July 10) we got our first look at how she’s channeling the late singer.

The picture, in which DaCosta strikes a pose similar to the cover of Whit’s 1987 Whitney album is promising — and also proof that the “I Will Always Love You” diva had a one-of-a-kind look that’s hard to recreate.

DaCosta told Entertainment Weekly that her modeling background came in handy during the shoot. “I just looked at the picture and did the pose!” she said.

The movie, directed by Houston’s “Waiting to Exhale” costar Angela Bassett, has just started filming.
