It was a big day for Fifth Harmony. Not only did their EP Better Together debut at #2 on the charts, but they took over the MTV Newsroom for a memorable “Live From MTV” live stream, which included performances, plenty of Harmonizers and a host of shirtless celebrities.

After taking to their bedazzled microphones to perform “Miss Movin’ On” and power ballad “Who Are You,” the fivesome — composed of Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane Hansen, Camila Cabello and Lauren Jauregui — sat down to talk all about the six-track EP and just how excited they were to learn that it’s now sitting at #2 on the iTunes charts.

“It’s literally sensational. It’s such an incredible feeling,” Ally said. “It’s so funny because I remember when we talked to you [MTV News] about our upcoming album and stuff like that, and now it’s out and it’s at #2. It’s incredible.”

Better Together is a blend of pure girl-power pop that touches on friendship, relationships and heartbreak.

“Each song on the EP has a different kind of vibe to it, but I think the overall thing is just to be yourself and to be OK with what you’re feeling,” Lauren said. “So if you’re having a good day and want to go out with your girl and see a guy or whatever, ‘Don’t Wanna Dance Alone’ and ‘Me & My Girls.’ And then if you’re having one of those days where you’re in a relationship and it’s hard, we have ‘Who Are You.’ So it’s a teenage-girl little diary.”

In fact, it’s “Who Are You” that strikes the strongest chord with the group, who collectively agree that the emotional ballad is their favorite.

“We all came into the studio separately recording it,” Dinah said. “And then when Julian [Bunetta] put the finishing touches to it and we all heard it, the first time we heard it we were all sobbing, and then we knew that’s the one.”

Camila added, “It’s a subject matter though that isn’t really… It’s not a generic subject matter. It’s not a sad love song. It’s not like boy doesn’t like me back. It’s like an actual bipolar relationship.”
