Homeland to get another series

Homeland has been renewed for a fourth season and Masters Of Sex has been given a second series.

Both programmes are being brought back for another run by Showtime, which airs them on Sunday nights in the US, The Hollywood Reporter has said.

They are both fronted by Brit actors, with Damian Lewis taking the lead in the award-winning Homeland and Michael Sheen heading up the cast for the recently-launched Masters Of Sex.

Showtime entertainment president David Nevins said: “Homeland continues to prove its strength for Showtime and is one of television’s most exciting, provocative and widely discussed shows. It has grown its audience significantly in each of its three seasons.

“The critical and audience reaction to Masters Of Sex since its great launch has been incredibly gratifying. It’s a privilege to get to work with such talented and creative people as Alex Gansa and Michelle Ashford, as well as their tremendous casts.

“They have each created truly original shows, with distinctive voices that are among the most admired series on television.”

The network is also launching horror drama Penny Dreadful in 2014, piloting The Affair, starring Joshua Jackson, and The Vatican, starring Kyle Chandler, and is developing Trending Down with Philip Seymour Hoffman.
