Taylor Swift is kicking it old school on her latest tune, “Sweeter Than Fiction,” off the “One Chance” soundtrack.

Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff co-wrote the bright pop ditty, which was inspired by the story of “Britain’s Got Talent” winner Paul Potts, who rose to fame after winning the U.K. talent show. The synthy song sounds a lot like an ’80s pop track with some New Wave influences. On the upbeat chorus, Swift sings, “There you stand, 10 feet tall/ I will say, ‘I knew it all along’/ Your eyes are wider than distance/ This life is sweeter than fiction.”

Around the same time the song was released, Antonoff tweeted about the track, referencing the ’80s vibe to it: “hear the john hughes in it?”

The song will play over the end credits of the film, which stars British actor James Corden in the lead role of a warehouse manager and wannabe opera singer turned pop star after winning “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2007. It was directed by “The Devil Wears Prada” helmer David Frankel and opens October 25.

“I’m very inspired by the concept of love. And this movie is, in a lot of ways, a love story. You’re expecting to go in and see a movie of someone who makes his dreams come true, but what you don’t realize is you’re actually being told a story of the love his wife … has for him,” Swift explained to Taste of Country about the track at the Toronto International Film Festival. “That was the story that hit me and really affected me. I wanted to tell a story musically from that perspective.”
