X Factor woe for Kingsland Road

Gary Barlow-backed boy band Kingsland Road will take it to the wire in tonight’s X Factor sing-off.

The five lads, based in east London, ended bottom of the pile after performing Marry You by Bruno Mars as part of a Love and Heartbreak-themed night.

But their Take That frontman mentor claimed he was confident that they could still make a comeback and go far in the talent show.

Barlow, who looked dejected as audience members screamed in horror and booed, told Conor, Jay, Josh, Matt and Thompson: “I’m gutted for the guys, you know, they know what they need to do.

“(Last year’s winner) James Arthur was in the bottom two in one of the competitions, so we’ve got to come back fighting tomorrow boys.”

Sharon Osbourne looked truly surprised when her own over-25 proteges were saved, after Devon diva Shelley Smith performed a risque cover of Beyonce’s Single Ladies and Sam Bailey went with Bob Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love.

And Louis Walsh said he was “nervous” about his boys’ prospects after Sam Callahan crooned I Won’t Give Up, Nicholas McDonald sung She’s The One and Luke Friend took on Let Her Go.

Meanwhile, Miss Dynamix added drama to proceedings after sitting the show out when heavily-pregnant SeSe was taken to hospital after feeling faint during rehearsals.

Fans are now looking forward tonight’s big treat – American superstar Katy Perry performing on the live results show.
