Eminem knows he has some serious issues to work through, so it’s lucky that Rihanna is there to help him out. The rapper just released a cinematic teaser for the video to his song “The Monster,” which poses Rihanna in the role of a therapist guiding Eminem through a confrontation with his past.
Where Does ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2′ Rank on Our List of the Best Albums of 2013?
As the trailer opens, Eminem sits in a gloomy room, where Rihanna pops in a video and proceeds to take notes. The themes behind his troubles – violence, family, addiction – are spelled out onscreen alongside corresponding images from the rapper’s life. The clip then moves to a scene of an armed guards, dressed in full assault gear, surrounding a giant cage. It ends with a shot from the perspective of whatever beast is penned inside the cage, staring into the barrel of the rifles.
The teaser, which uses a ticking metronome and other sound effects in place of the song itself, offers no date for the video’s arrival, only stating that it’s coming soon.
Eminem released “The Monster,” which features Rihanna’s vocals on the chorus, at the end of October as the fourth single from his new album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
