Although it’s not quite as ambitious as the 101-song mixtape Lil B released on Christmas, rapper Mac Miller says he intends to release multiple albums in 2014. In a recent interview with MTV, the Pittsburgh MC said, “I have four albums done right now – not done, but four albums that have a foundation and have at least seven songs on each of them.”

Miller said he wasn’t sure, however, if the music will come out as four albums or in some other configuration. Additionally, since he’s known for releasing records under pseudonyms – like Delusional Thomas, a name he used for a mixtape in 2013, as well as previous aliases like Larry Lovestein and the Velvet Revival – it’s still unclear if, when and how he will release the new material. He did confirm, though, that he has been pegging material for a follow up to his 2013 release Watching Movies With the Sound Off. But he said he wasn’t planning it that way. “This new one that I think is actually gonna be the next Mac Miller album was like an accident,” he said, “which is dope.”

Regarding the lyrical direction of his new material, he said, “I’m gonna capture every aspect of being a human being. . . I think that artists and pop culture identities. . . simplify what it means to be a human and pigeonhole people into looking up to one role model. You’re a thug, then you love Chief Keef. You like girls, then you like Drake. You’re intelligent, then you like Kendrick Lamar. It ain’t that simple. Everyone is just a blend of everybody.”

Last month, Miller told Rolling Stone how gratifying it was to perform songs from Watching Movies With the Sound Off live, with backing instrumentation from the group the Internet – though he did not hint whether or not this has influenced any of his new music. “It was the most meaningful tour I’ve ever done,” he said at the time. “My dream has been to play with a band. We took the songs and recreated how they worked.”
