Liam Gallagher Blasts 'Definitely Maybe' 20th Anniversary Reissue

There will definitely maybe be at least one person not buying the upcoming 20th anniversary reissue of Oasis’ debut album: Liam Gallagher.

The Oasis co-founder took to Twitter to ask, in all-caps so you know it’s serious, “HOW CAN YOU REMASTER SOMETHING THAT’S ALREADY [BEEN] MASTERED. DONT BUY INTO IT. LET IT BE.”

The remastered, reissued edition of Definitely Maybe, entitled Definitely Maybe: Chasing the Sun Edition, is set for release on May 19th and will include rehearsal footage, live and acoustic versions and a copy of the band’s original demo cassette. A press release noted that subsequent albums What’s The Story (Morning Glory)? and Be Here Now will also be reissued later this year.

The Beady Eye founder also mocked the reverent tone given to the reissue, referencing Oasis founding member Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs.”THE OASIS YEARS,” Gallagher tweeted. “THEY FORGOT TO MENTION BONEHEAD USED TO STICK FIG ROLLS UP HIS ARSE HA HA X”

Liam is hardly the only Gallagher who looks back with less-than-fond memories of the Oasis years. Earlier this year, Noel Gallagher’s DVD commentary for the career-spanning 2010 Oasis box set Time Flies was uploaded online, with the singer mercilessly mocking his band’s old videos. In one of his nicer comments, Gallagher said of the video director for “Live Forever,” ”It seems like this guy was making it up as he was fucking going along.”

In 2011, Liam told Rolling Stone that he would consider reconciling with his brother Noel to reunite Oasis for the 20th anniversary of 1995′s (What’s The Story) Morning Glory. ”In 2015, if we can put our shit aside, we can tour and play the album in its entirety for the 20th anniversary,” he says. “I’d be up for that, if it’s on our terms. There’s got to be two-way respect.”

Big Brother Recordings, the label behind the reissue, also announced the limited edition vinyl release of a replica of Oasis’s debut 12-inch single “Supersonic” for Record Store Day on April 19th.
