Samsung’s first generation Android running smartwatch, Galaxy Gear, features a 1.63in Super AMOLED display, single core 800MHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage and a 1.9 megapixel rear camera.
Galaxy Gear users can now root their smartwatches following our step-by-step guide. Along with rooting, the tutorial also installs Pie Controls on the smartwatch. Note that rooting the device will void the device of its manufacturer’s warranty.

Pre-requisites
1) Install Samsung USB Drivers
2) Navigate to Settings>> Gear Info and tap 10 times on Software version. Go back and enable USB Debugging mode on Galaxy Gear.
3) Download Cydia Impactor and extract it.
How to root Galaxy Gear
Step-1: Connect the Galaxy Gear to the computer and wait for a few minutes for the device to sync with the drivers
Step-2: Open the extracted Impactor_0.9.14 folder and double click the Impactor.exe to run the Cydia Impactor (Click on Run, when notified)
Step-3: Select # drop SuperSU su to /system/xbin/su in the dropdown menu and click Start
Step-4: When the process is finished, disconnect the Galaxy Gear from the computer.
How to install Pie Controls on Galaxy Gear
Step-1: Download apk_gear.zip and extract it to the computer. You should get a folder named apk_gear
Step-2: Connect the Galaxy Gear to the computer
Step-3: Open the apk_gear folder. Inside the folder, press SHIFT key and right-click on an empty space. A menu will pop-up, select Open Command Prompt Here
Step-4: Type the following commands in the CMD window one after another to install the ES File Explorer, Superuser, Xposed Framework and Gravity box, respectively
adb install es-file-explorer.apk
adb install superuser.apk
adb install xposed-framework.apk
adb install gravity-box.apk
Step-5: Reboot the Galaxy Gear
Step-6: Navigate to Apps and select Xposed Framework. Now go to Framework and tap on Install (Select Yes when prompted for root permission.)
Step-7: Reboot the Galaxy Gear again for the Xposed Framework to setup properly
Step-8: Go to Apps and select Xposed Framework. Tap on Modules and check Gravity Box module
Step-9: Reboot again for the module to activate properly
Step-10: Go to Apps and select GravityBox. Tap on Statusbar tweaks, then on Pie Controls
Step-11: Tap on Enable pie controls and select Always. Scroll down and modify other Pie settings accordingly
The Galaxy Gear should now have been rooted with Pie Controls installed on the device. You should also see other mods such as GravityBox.
