Sarah Silverman has joined Masters Of Sex for the second series.
US network Showtime revealed that the 43-year-old funnywoman will play a character named Helen in a recurring guest star role, although further details remained under wraps, reported Variety.
Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan star as famed sex researchers William Masters and Virginia Johnson in the period drama, which was c reated by Michelle Ashford, and is screened on Channel 4 in the UK.
The first series was successful when it premiered in 2013, receiving Golden Globe and Writers Guild of America nominations, as well as being chosen as one of the top TV shows of the year by the American Film Institute. It also picked up the Critics’ Choice television award for most exciting new series.
Production on the second season is currently under way in Los Angeles, before its expected premiere on US screens in July 2014.
Sarah, who received a lead actress Emmy nomination for her Comedy Central show The Sarah Silverman Programme, has appeared in shows such as Seinfeld, Frasier and The Good Wife.
She will next appear in Seth MacFarlane’s Western comedy, A Million Ways To Die In The West, alongside Amanda Seyfried, Charlize Theron and Liam Neeson.
