Police have been given extra time to question a schoolboy over the fatal stabbing of a teacher in front of her pupils.
Spanish teacher Ann Maguire, 61, was months away from retiring, after working at Corpus Christi Catholic College in Leeds for more than 40 years, when she was attacked in a classroom on Monday morning.
Today, West Yorkshire Police confirmed a 15-year-old boy, who was detained by staff following the stabbing and arrested at the school, remains in custody.
Officers said they were given permission to continue to hold the boy by magistrates in Leeds last night.
Scores of the children arriving for school this morning stopped to read hundreds of messages pinned to a mass of floral tributes outside the school gates.
Some laid fresh bunches and many others started to write their tributes directly on to the school fence with marker pens.
