Model Cara makes her TV drama debut

Cara Delevingne looks a world away from her catwalk glamour as she makes her TV drama debut.

The 2 1-year-old model stars in new short film Timeless, opposite veteran actress Sylvia Syms, which is to be screened later this year as part of the Playhouse Presents season on Sky Arts.

Cara plays a young woman whose fiance is serving in Afghanistan and the experience brings her closer to her great-grandmother (Syms).

She has spoken of her hopes of launching an acting career and took a brief role in the 2012 screen adaptation of Anna Karenina and has a forthcoming appearance in Michael Winterbottom thriller The Face Of An Angel.

Timeless has been scripted by Tim Firth, who was the writer behind movies such as Calendar Girls and Kinky Boots, and will be screened on June 19.

The season begins on May 1 with a comedy called The Dog Thrower, which has been written by journalist Jon Ronson and stars Friends actor Matthew Perry, his first UK original production.
