Knife found near double murder site

Police have found what appears to be a knife with a broken blade in a quiet village street near the scene of a double murder.

The victims, believed to have been in their 50s, are suspected to have died from stab wounds in an attack at The Copse in Fetcham, Surrey.

Another resident at the detached property, registered to Gillian and Patrick Kettyle, raised the alarm after discovering their bodies at around 12.30am today.

A huge manhunt is under way for a Lithuanian builder, 38-year-old Viktoras Bruzas, in connection with the killings, and detectives have urged the public not to approach him.

A man in his 30s has been arrested in Walton-on-Thames in connection with the inquiry, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

The two suspects and the middle-aged victims were known to each other, police confirmed.

Officers cordoned off a section of Meadow Way, which leads into The Copse and is about 500 yards from the crime scene, after a knife was discovered beneath a large tree at the side of the road.

A forensics officer could be seen putting the knife, which had a black and silver handle and appeared to have a bent and broken blade, into a plastic evidence container.
