SYDNEY (AP) — Australia captain Steve Smith won the toss Tuesday and elected to bat first in the fourth cricket test against India, Virat Kohli’s first since taking over the captaincy of the Indian test team.
Australia made one change to the lineup that drew the third test in Melbourne last week to secure the series, with seamer Mitchell Starc recalled for the injured Mitchell Johnson at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
India made four changes, with Wriddhiman Saha replacing retired former test captain and wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, while batsmen Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma come in for Shikar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara.
Paceman Kumar Bhuvneshwar was selected ahead of Ishant Sharma.
Australia has an unassailable 2-0 series lead, and regained the Border-Gavaskar trophy, after winning the first test at Adelaide by 48 runs and the second test at Brisbane by four wickets, before the drawn third test at Melbourne.
